International Paper Awards Grant to Heritage AAA

The International Paper Foundation has awarded a $3,000 grant to Heritage Area Agency on Aging to support their Encore Express program at their First Avenue location. This grant is just one example of International Paper’s commitment to the company’s signature causes, which include education, hunger, health and wellness, disaster relief and initiatives that improve our planet. International Paper is committed to addressing critical community needs where our employees live and work.

This funding will help Heritage Area Agency on Aging continue the Encore Express program in downtown Cedar Rapids. Encore Express serves food-insecure older adults with senior dining programs and events to distribute supplemental foods like canned goods, bread, meat and more.

“Heritage is thrilled for International Paper’s continued support of Encore Express,” said Barbara Werning, Executive Director at Heritage AAA. “They have been critical to the program’s success through their grant awards and staff volunteerism at food distributions. Their team sets a standard for talking the talk and walking the walk in our community.”

“At International Paper, we mobilize our people, products and resources to address critical needs in the communities where our employees live and work,” said Megan Shook, communications coordinator, Cedar River Mill. “We are proud to continue our partnership with Heritage Area Agency on Aging as they provide access to nutrition to underserved areas in the Greater Cedar Rapids area.”
